Love does not boast

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves (Philippians 2:3)

If Jesus is so willing to honour us, can we not do the same for others? Make people a priority. Be quick to share the applause, regard others as more important than yourself. Love does. “For love does not boast, it is not proud” (1 Cor 13:4)

Here the thought is completed. As we put away our selfish ambitions, our conceit, and our tendencies to be high-minded and self-absorbed, we will naturally have a greater concern for the interests and needs of others.

Is Jesus not our example? Content to be known as a carpenter, he served his followers by washing their feet. And “It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them”. (Luke 12:37)
