CALL TO READINESS

Bible Text: "Jesus said to his disciples, “take your money and a traveller’s bag. And if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one! For the time has come for this prophecy about me to be fulfilled: ‘He was counted among the rebels.’ Yes, everything written about me by the prophets will come true.” (Luke 22:36-37).

Jesus is saying: "I am on the point of leaving you, and when I am gone, you must use common sense means for provision and protection."

Such practical considerations were not needed before, but were needed now.

Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end.
The disciples had been sent out to do ministry without Jesus before (Luke 10:1-17), but then they were received with goodwill and hospitality. Now they are facing a hostile world without Jesus, and must be prepared.

Whatever it is that can help you the most, set it as a goal, make a plan to achieve it and go to work on your plan immediately.

Remember the wonderful words of Goethe, "Just begin and the mind grows heated; continue, and the task will be completed!"

Prayer: Holy Spirit, be the senior partner in my life and business in Jesus name.
